Madonna delle Grazie 'Bauccio' Aglianico del Vulture 2016

Deep ruby-red. Spicy, floral aromas and flavours of blueberry, violet, licorice, bitter chocolate and pepper. Very concentrated but currently tightly wound, this is elegantly styled wine is impressively juicy and layered. The wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak tonneaux.

"My grandfather in the early 1900s was known for his skill in the vineyard and for the goodness of his wines. For several decades of the last century, his grapes and his wines were mostly sold to private individuals. Since 2003, more and more convinced of the potential of his old Aglianico vineyards, together with my wife and children, I decided to make wine and bottle our first harvest in the new cellars near the monastery of Madonna delle Grazie (XVI) in Venous. Today we work vineyards rooted in the mineral soils of Mount Vulture, a now inactive volcano. We only grow Aglianico del Vulture grapes in various districts of the Veneto countryside at altitudes between 400 and 550 meters above sea level. We are proud guardians of old Aglianico vines and have a deep respect for the land. I am happy that my family still continues my work and embraces the simple values ​​of a genuine and environmentally friendly wine culture right from the start."
