Villota Rioja Tinto 2020

Exuding a rich perfume of blackberry, plums, and dark cherries, this wine captivates from the first sniff. On the palate, it is concentrated with velvety sweet black fruit and fine ferrous mineral flavors, culminating in a long, silky finish. Each variety is fermented separately before the final blend is determined. The wine is then aged in extra fine-grained French barriques and settled in concrete tanks.

Nestled in the enchanting village of Laserna-Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa, lies the Villota estate, a family legacy since 1930. Now lovingly tended by Carmen Pérez-Garrigues and her father Ricardo Pérez-Villota, this vineyard, rooted in history, broke free in 2013 to pursue the art of crafting premium wines. Rioja Alavesa, kissed by the cooling breezes of the Atlantic and cradled by the majestic Cantabrian mountains, mirrors the finest qualities of Rioja Alta. Here, on soils of calcareous and ferrous clay, their vines flourish, dry-farmed and bush-trained, nurtured with a passion for purity, untouched by chemicals, embodying the soul of tradition and excellence.
