This is no ordinary Montsant red — Pas de l’Estudiant comes from a tiny parcel of century-old Garnacha and Cariñena vines, planted high on poor, stony soils. The old vines give remarkable concentration and depth while keeping a sense of finesse. Aromas of wild strawberry, dark cherry, violets, and garrigue herbs lead into a layered palate of red and black fruits, fine spice, and a long, mineral-driven finish with beautiful tension.

Josep Grau has worked organically in Montsant since 2003, with a philosophy of minimal intervention and maximum respect for his old vines. Pas de l’Estudiant is one of his most special bottlings — a wine that captures the soul of Montsant’s rugged terroir, balancing intensity, elegance, and a strong sense of place.
