Profound ruby colour verging on garnet, initially presents floral hints of heather and arbutus, succeeded by subtle nuances of tart cherry and dark berries. The palate reveals a concentrated and savory character, marked by a harmonious balance, well-defined structure, and tannins that are both robust and finely textured, culminating in a pleasingly persistent finish.
Gianni Brunelli, a man with a wide array of interests, launched Osteria Le Logge in Siena back in 1971 (now esteemed as one of the city's finest dining destinations). In 1987, he made a return to Montalcino and acquired “Le Chiuse di Sotto,” an estate previously owned by his father Dino. Situated in the northern part of the region, the estate boasted 2 hectares of vineyards positioned 200 meters above sea level. Brunelli took the initiative to replant most of the vines in 1989, while preserving a small section of the original vineyard dating back to his father's establishment in 1947. Following Gianni's passing in 2008, his wife Laura assumed leadership, alongside her brother, Adriano.
In more recent times, the company expanded its holdings with the purchase of the “Podernovone” vineyard, located further south in Montalcino. Spanning 4 hectares and perched at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, the property offers a stunning panorama of Monte Amiata. The soil composition of Podernovone consists of calcareous marl and schist, characteristics that optimize light reflection and heat absorption.
