Brilliant and dazzling. Its nose is initially mineral then develops with floral notes and small red fruits of strawberry and raspberry. The palate is fine and delicate, presenting a balance built around assertive tension. The texture is soft and balanced. This wine is a true harmony between volume, freshness and minerality. It gives an illusion of silkiness and powder. On the finish, this vintage offers a mineral persistence with an elegant reminder of red fruits. The finish rebounds with a saline note which accentuates the freshness.
"Family estate of 3 generations with Italian origins located in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. My grandfather Francis Usseglio came from Italy in 1931 where he settled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In 1948 he took over a farm with his vines in a place called Piet Long and produced his first wine in 1949. Finally, it was in 1962 that he planted his first plot of vines in his own name in Terres Blanches. In 1963, my father Raymond, accompanied by my mother Danielle, took over and created Domaine Usseglio Raymond. Since 1999, and at only 22 years old, it is now my turn to cultivate and operate the Domaine Usseglio vineyard. Raymond & Fils."
