A single-vineyard bottling from stony, gravelly terraces south of Langenlois. The soils here force the vines deep, yielding a denser, more textural Grüner with notes of ripe quince, fennel, and flint. Fermented and matured in large oak casks, it combines richness with restraint—broad across the palate but finished with precise mineral cut.
Founded in 1171, Schloss Gobelsburg’s winemaking heritage began when Cistercian monks from Zwettl were granted vineyards on the Heiligenstein and Gaisberg hills—sites still central to the estate today. After centuries of monastic stewardship, production moved permanently to Gobelsburg in 1786, where the castle became the heart of the winery.
Since 1996, Michael and Eva Moosbrugger, together with Willi and Edwige Bründlmayer, have continued this legacy, combining tradition with refined precision. With vineyards spanning diverse soils and microclimates, Schloss Gobelsburg remains one of Austria’s oldest and most respected estates—its roots in ecological, monk-inspired viticulture still shaping its philosophy today.
