Ngeringa Single Vineyard Iluma Syrah 2023

A Syrah of precision, perfume, and poise. This cool-climate expression opens with vibrant aromatics of red berries, violet, and exotic spice—think cinnamon, clove, and star anise—gently supported by subtle oak. The palate is savoury and energetic, with juicy plum and bright red fruit at its core, carried by sappy acidity and superfine tannins. There's a sleek, refined texture and a long, savoury finish, offering both immediate charm and the structure to age gracefully.

The fruit hails from Ngeringa’s Iluma Vineyard, perched at 420 metres on the northern slope of Mount Barker Summit. Facing west and rooted in lean soils of micaceous schist and ironstone over clay, this site produces some of Ngeringa’s most expressive and nuanced fruit.

Ngeringa is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in Australia, with a deep commitment to farming in rhythm with nature and crafting wines that speak clearly of their site. Minimal intervention in the winery—no added yeast, no fining, and only a touch of sulfur—allows the purity and energy of the vineyard to shine through in every glass.
